As we acquire Skytap and develop each service, each service offers:
Monitoring
The configuration and installation of a variety of tools such as IBM: AIX Monitoring PowerPack from the ScienceLogic Support Site via PowerPack Manager in SL1.
Configuring an SSH/Key credential for connecting to IBM AIX devices, specifying username, hostname/IP, and port. Setting up the new device template with custom thresholds and applications. Conduct a discovery session in the Discovery Control Panel, inputting IBM AIX device IP addresses, selecting the SSH/Key credential, and applying the device template.
Provisioning
Patching
AIX patching is a vital process that involves applying and maintaining the operating system with the most recent fixes, patches, and updates provided by IBM. This guarantees system security, stability, and optimal performance. The patching process typically begins by identifying and downloading required patches from IBM's Fix Central or other authorized sources, covering security updates, bug fixes, performance improvements, and new features. After patch activity, comprehensive testing is advised to verify system functionality and stability, including testing critical applications and services to ensure they work as expected. Regular patching is crucial to keep AIX systems updated and secure, reducing vulnerabilities and ensuring protection against emerging threats.
Kyndryl has introduced an innovative patching solution, leveraging the capabilities of a CACF Ansible Tower, to offer customers an advanced framework for efficient managing and updating their production systems. By harnessing the advanced automation capabilities of Ansible within the CACF framework, Kyndryl delivers a comprehensive patching solution tailored to meet the evolving needs of modern enterprise customers. With Kyndryl patching solution utilizing the CACF Ansible Tower, the delivery team can confidently streamline their patch management processes, ensuring optimal system performance and security posture.
Back up & restore
The Backup and Restore (BUR) capabilities for Skytap form a critical component of the MVP – AIX Backup and Restore services, aimed at safeguarding Azure Skytap Power workloads. The initiative's purpose is to harness advanced backup functionalities and establish a robust solution that supports IBM Power-based application migration demands.
